Round 10 Vs Wanderers @ No2 Sportsground

Maitland Private Hospital 1st Grade
Maitland 20 (Maloney, Logan, Robinson tries, Maloney pen, Estatheo conv)
Wanderers 23
Former Black Dillon Rowney ran in two long range tries and Josh McCormack ran his mouth as Wanderers kicked a late penalty to escape a very strong performance by Maitland. Firsts enjoyed extended attacking raids during the first half but Wanderers stout defence held strong and went into half time up by 2 points. The Blacks forwards bullied the Two Blues throughout the game and were unlucky not to capitalize. Formidable scrummaging forced turnovers twice late in the game to set up the nail biting finish. Estatheo’s return from injury was impressive, as was Chris Martin’s ‘Dean Mumm/Lomu’ effort to set up Logan and livewire scrum half Max Stafford
Players’ player: James Johnston
Coach’s points 3/2/1: Stafford/Birrell/Logan

Bottrell Group 2nd Grade
Maitland (Armstrong try, Punch conv)
Wanderers 17
The Blacks usually potent attack was stifled by solid defence and poor ball retention, going down two tries to one in an otherwise even matchup. Pat Armstrong’s try under the posts was a testament to the hours backs spend on a Thursday night running ‘moves’, despite never before seeing one succeed on game day. Eddie Laupola had another big game at 12, as did first grade lock Klass-Jan Hoogland and king of the ‘C ball’ Nick Davidson.
Players’ player: Zac Treloar
Coach’s points 3/2/1: Fraser/Eddie/Jordy

Firestorm 3rd Grade
Maitland 15 (O’Connor, Lewer tries, Golledge conv, pen)
Wanderers 7
Maitland’s only win for the weekend was thanks to a Dan Lewer try from behind the ruck that maintains thirds lead at the top of the table. Sean O’Connor carried about 7 people over the line to open the scoring and the opportunity to escape the nudie run was too much for Lewer to resist. Vesper was everywhere as usual, even managing to help out the Two Blues in nearly punching one of his own team mates.
Players’ player: Sam Ralph
Coach’s points 3/2/1: Ralph/Kurt/Runchel

Doyle Rural Services Under 19 Colts
Maitland (Cant try, Taylor conv)
Wanderers 22
Players’ player: Sam Scobie
Coach’s points 3/2/1: Scobie/Ulberg/Leonard

Lillies and Limes Lady Blacks
Maitland
University 50
